Stress and Performance

Not all stress is bad. Really. This graphic on the left shows a link between certain kinds of stress and optimal performance! A little bit of stress can help us with motivation (think about studying for a test, for instance).

Similarly, some exposure to stressors in early life can lead to heightened levels of mindfulness and self-awareness.

Stress is a part of everyone’s life. We buffer the impacts of stress through coping strategies, self–care, and, importantly, relationships (It’s that word again!)

Too much stress is toxic. This is where we see some pretty serious side effects. How are you coping with your stresses? Reach out to your team, a clinician, a doctor, a friend, a hotline, the EAP program, or your significant other… reach out if the stress feels too much.
