At Heritage Family Services, we serve children, youth and families in central Alberta, including Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House, Lacombe, Ponoka and Wetaskiwin, through short-term and long-term group care, foster care, and relief care while supporting caregivers and communities with training and resources.

We Create Safe Spaces For All

We work hard to create and maintain inclusive, safe spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ children and youth in our group homes, foster homes, and offices. We offer training and support for all of our team members and caregivers on how to welcome and care for these highly vulnerable kiddos.

We honour the culture and spirituality of our children and youth in care so they remain connected to their familial roots and communities. From attending churches, Pow Wows and religious celebrations to engaging with Indigenous Elders, we’ll support a child’s identity and culture.

We acknowledge that First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples have lived in and cared for these lands since immemorial. We respect their histories, languages, and cultures, whose presence continues to enrich our communities. We’re committed to listening to and learning from Indigenous Elders while affirming the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

We see children and youth, team members and caregivers as holistic beings who are the center of our attention, support and care. We are all more than a process, checklist or set of rules and deserve to be the sole focus of our service team members, program coordinators, support team and administration.
