Specialized Program: Quest

Stabilization and Secure Programs

At Quest Stabilization and Secure, Heritage Family Services supports two youth groups. Both programs operate simultaneously within the same facility and benefit from the expertise of our highly educated, well-connected, and relationship-focused staff team.

Secure

Our secure program offers court-mandated support to youth facing risks to themselves or others for various reasons. Through a holistic approach, we focus on building relationships, reducing harm, and developing life skills. We help create new coping strategies, reconnect with family, and strengthen cultural ties. We aim to transition them into programs or family care settings that best suit their needs and support their continued growth and well-being.

Stabilization

The stabilization program offers community-based support to youth with top-end behaviours. We aim to empower youth to navigate challenges effectively through various interventions, including relationship-building and life skills development. Our individualized approach focuses on their personal growth and building connections within their communities.

Quest Stabilization and Secure supports two different youth groups:

  • Our secure program serves court-mandated youth deemed at risk to themselves or others due to various factors.
  • Our stabilization program operates within the community and supports youth with top-end behavioural challenges.
  • We employ a holistic approach, offering interventions such as:
    • Relationship building
    • Harm reduction strategies
    • Life skills development
    • Coping skill acquisition
    • Family reconnection
    • Cultural rekindling
  • Both programs operate simultaneously in the same facility, benefiting from the expertise of our highly educated, well-connected, and relationship-focused staff team.

Quest Assessment

  • Quest Assessment is a specialized facility with five beds for youth aged 9 to 17.
  • This is a short-term facility, with a maximum stay of 90 days, during which youth receive psycho-educational and behavioural assessments.
  • We prioritize education continuity, so our facility is linked to a school with Red Deer public school teachers and assistants.
  • Recognizing that some youth may arrive at emergency placements and seek a more suitable arrangement, we aim to make this transition as smooth as possible.
  • Understanding that for many, this may be their first experience in care, we prioritize creating a caring and supportive environment. Our goal is to ensure that their initial experiences in group care feel safe and affirming.
