River's Edge

 

Juan Alvarez Juan Alvarez and his family moved to Canada in 1995, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Central America University in El Salvador. He was director of Jesuit Priest Middle School for more than ten years; there he administered grades four through nine. Juan began work for Family Heritage Services as a youth worker in 1998 at Twin Oaks in Ponoka. Juan was transferred a year later to Oskayak Treatment Centre in Red Deer. In the year 2000 he started working in YAC, he was a youth worker there for five consecutive years. In the year 2005 he moved to Direwood Treatment Centre as team leader. Recently this year he transferred to Rocky Mountain House to River’s Edge and Crossroads as program coordinator.

 

Kimberly Young is the Program Therapist at River’s Edge Learning Centre and Choices Home.  Kimberly has worked for Heritage since August 2006.  Kimberly has a B.A. in Psychology, a B.A. in Addiction Studies and a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology.  Kimberly is a member of the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists Association of Alberta.  After moving to Rocky Mountain House, she quickly became involved with community youth activities such as: Pathfinder Leader with Adolescent females ages 12-14, became a Board Member with Youth Justice, parent helper with Boy Scouts and is a Board Member at COPE.  She is a parent volunteer at her children’s school, as well as, a basketball coach.  Kimberly’s favorite quotes are, “Dance as though no one is watching” and “A desire can overcome all obstacles”.
