“Caring for Your Future”
Davison Place provides a milieu of care, support, protection, and effective programming for those youth who require it during a stressful period of time and are provided whenever space is available to clients who have no other place to stay. It is intended to be a short term, and is provided to the youth with the intent of giving the Case Manager a period of time to plan for a more permanent place for the youth.
Mission Statement
A personalized and individual approach of care within a safe and stable environment that assists and encourages youth to progress towards independence and autonomy with self-confidence and responsibility for the present and for the future. This is accomplished by:
- Monthly Updates
- Encouraging Youth to Pro-socially Reorganize and
Restructure Their Lives and Values
- Assisting Youth to Access Community Resources That
Interest Them
- Encouraging Youth to Continue Their Education or Part
Time Work
Education
- Education is seen as an essential for the youth residing in the program. Social workers will need to work in conjunction with the program to ensure that clients are receiving adequate education within the public school system. At intake, the youth’s needs, abilities and required supervision will be discussed, and a decision will be made as to what extra resources the client needs within the school system. This will be reviewed on a regular basis. For all youth the goal will be placement in a community school program. If required, educational staff of the school board completes assessments.
Assessment
- Assessments at Davison will provide a Behavioral Report of the client’s
overall needs. Clients brought into care will be observed by staff to determine peer interaction, adult interaction, community interaction, family interaction, and independent living skills. This report will be used to develop the individual service plan. Social workers can expect that the staff will be able to provide recommendations for further placement at the end of this assessment.
